I personally turn mine off when finished using it and the power strip is plugged into goes tambin.La reason people say they do not turn off the PC is because it is a burden on the processor and boot disks. Personally, I think it's a waste of energy left at all times. My main pc has been used like this for about 7.6 years without a single problem (knock on wood).

I have a desktop that just never turned off. Just make sure you set your power saving settings it goes to sleep after a certain time. You can configure the sleep time in the display options of saving energy. Myne I have to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity.

It is mostly a matter of choice. If the on and off many can carry in your hardware. Having run all the time will be spent on hardware. A good system should be fine running all the time. Not so good machine will slow way down because of things left over in memory. I personally think it is good to close every few days for my file storage system for my daily use PC and closed at night or at the end of my shift.
